Today, we are on a collision course between two powerful but conflicting trends. The first represents the immense reliance on intelligent decision-making to provide business value, something that is enhanced and more robust with more data. The result is a growing demand for usable, high quality data. The second represents the increased emphasis on data privacy: very recently, as a result of numerous data breaches and the passing of privacy regulations like the EU’s GDPR and California’s CCPA, heightened awareness around how our data has been collected, stored, and used has led to reduced accessibility and availability of data. The result is a decreased supply of usable, high-quality data.

The supply of and demand for data are at odds. Consequently, these two trends—the reliance on data and the reduced accessibility to data—are clashing, and will only collide with more force as each matures. We need a path forward that enables AI and data privacy to exist harmoniously, a path that empowers enterprises to continue providing value to their customers without compromising their privacy.

See our open positions.

At Opaque, we’re putting on our hard hats and paving this middle path: we’re pioneering collaborative data analytics, AI, and machine learning on confidential and sensitive data. We’re building a platform that facilitates data accessibility while maintaining the privacy of that data. Privacy is a fundamental human right, and our mission is to return that right to our customers and the everyday consumer.

Based on years of published research at top-tier, peer-reviewed conferences, our technology has the potential to completely disrupt the computing landscape. Thus far, similar solutions have lacked the performance and scalability to truly support today’s big data workloads. Our platform supports orders of magnitude more data, and is orders of magnitude more performant for these AI and analytics workloads, leaving minimal overhead between our system and a completely insecure alternative. Moreover, we’re building an interface for data analysts that enables a frictionless migration from their typical tools today: our platform requires absolutely no security knowledge to use, and abstracts away all the complexities we’ve built in to enforce security. As we bring our technology to market, the question turns from “What can I use this for?” to “Why should I not use this for all my workloads?”

We’re incredibly excited for the future of our technology and the future of this entire market. We’re perhaps even more excited to build a stellar team that will together transform the computing landscape. While we already have a tremendously talented team from a diversity of backgrounds, we’re not satisfied and are hungry for more. We’re looking for individuals who are driven and ambitious, yet supportive and inclusive—individuals who believe feedback is a critical component of growth, and who share our values of straight-and-to-the-point dialogue, honest discussion, and an openness to all ideas.

At Opaque, we want to make it as easy as possible for you to do your job—at the end of the day, all that matters is delivering high quality results. We place an emphasis on minimizing meetings (no-meeting-Wednesdays for engineering!) and context-switching, and are constantly iterating on processes that work and throwing out those that don’t. At our stage, we believe that the only way for Opaque to successfully grow is to give everyone the agency and autonomy to bring their ideas to the table and propose what they think is best for the team.

If you’re as excited about the space as we are, or are even a bit intrigued by what we’re building, and if what we value resonates with you, please reach out. We’re always looking for passionate individuals to join our team.
